Calling for Debaters to Volunteer for the Pape Adolescent Resource Centre (PARC) Outreach Event
Also from your Outreach Director:
Location
The Pape Adolescent Resource Centre (PARC) is in Toronto (East York), near the Pape station (5 stations away eastward from Bloor-Yonge).
Program Description
The youth group called Network at the PARC is "an advocacy group which gives youth the opportunity and encouragement to speak out about their experiences in care (of the Children's Aid Society), and to 'give back' (to younger youth) and work for positive change within the child welfare system. Some members have participated in other groups at PARC, and have brought those skills to the Network Group. Most of the members are already living on their own in the community, so are further along the spectrum of independence." The group is interested in inviting Hart House debaters to show its members how to debate.
Duration/Time
Any one Wednesday at 6:00 PM, or possibly at 7:00 PM if that time is preferrable to debaters, in June or July. The schedule may be adjusted if there is no feasible time for enough number of debaters. If you are interested, tell me on which Wednesday evening you are free in June and July (or suggest any other time if you are highly interested but not available on Wednesday). I am expecting commitment of 2 hours, not counting the travel time.
Debaters Needed
I am looking for 4 debaters who can do a show debate and possibly 1 more who can act as a speaker. I am expecting at least one of these volunteers would do a basic seminar on how to debate.
Miscellaneous Details
1. Subway tokens for round trip will be provided upon request.
2. Currently, this is expected to be an outreach event and not a larger-scale program. If anyone wishes to expand this event and create an outreach program out of it (and commit enough time to become the outreach program director), please contact me so I can ask whether the group is interested in doing so.

Calling for Debaters to Volunteer for the Olympiads School Outreach Program
From your outreach director:
Location
The Olympiads School is in Toronto (North York), near the Don Mills Subway station (The easternmost one in the newly created Sheppard subway line). Aside from the rather long distance from the University of Toronto (where many of you would be staying in around the campus), the place is actually rather easy to reach.
Program Description
The Olympiads School, a tutoring centre with a solid record in mathematics and sciences competitions, is now looking to run a debating program during the summer on a test basis (i.e. the principal will decide whether to continue the program after seeing how it goes on during the upcoming summer). So far, the School is looking to teach about 8 students (4 teams) who would be hopefully ready to compete in several high school tournaments. They have never received any formal debating training in the past, so I am looking for debaters who would volunteer as 'instructors.'
Duration/Time
A Total of 30 hours during July and August. Thus, please contact me before July at the latest if you are interested. Since I have to come up with the schedule, I would like to also ask all interested people to tell me in which days and times they are free. There are many potential 'Class' time slots from morning to late evening. I am expecting commitment of 2-3 hours per class, not counting the travel time. You do not have to be in every class to participate in this event, but I would be also interested in knowing how often you can do this event (as few as once in the entire two months to as many as twice a week).
Debaters Needed
Currently, I am looking for about 1-2 'instructors' who can commit for most if not all of the total of 30 hours during the two months and at least 4 debaters who can do show debate at least once. I am also open to expand the numbers of either positions if I find room for them. Explanation on why you are qualified/why you are interested is optional. The main tasks of debaters are doing show debate(s) and possibly helping pro-am debates with high school students. The tasks of instructors are teaching students how to debate and act as speakers (i.e. timekeeping and giving helpful comments) on all debates.
Miscellaneous Details
1. Subway tokens for round trip will be provided upon request.
2. If you can commit to at least 4 events in this program, you are eligible to be appointed as the program director of the Olympiads School program.
